Recipe - Tomato Sauce for pizza

Pizza is an Italian dish which is every foodie’s first love. Italian pizza and pasta both are internationally famous and both dishes call for a tomato sauce. There are various types of popular pizzas like thin crust pizza, American style pizza, deep dish pizza etc. Mostly all of them require a tomato based sauce.

In Italy they have world’s best tomatoes which is not possible to get outside of Italy. To make a great tomato sauce, you first need great tomatoes, which is fresh, flame red, little watery but you can use canned tomatoes as well.

The most important ingredients for pizza tomato sauce are olive oil, garlic, tomatoes and Italian herbs like oregano and basil other than these it’s up to you if you want to add onions, carrot or any other vegetables, sugar etc. You can experiment with the recipe according to your taste.

Also this tomato based pizza sauce can be cooked or uncooked too. Some belief that sauce should be cooked because ingredients and herbs needed the heat to release their respective flavors on the other hand some belief that sauce will get cooked inside the oven on top of pizza so the sauce should be uncooked. So you can use either way as you like, I enjoy both cooked and uncooked sauces.

Here I am sharing recipe to make pizza sauce with fresh tomatoes. Hope you will like it and try it, so happy pizza eating!

Recipe: Tomato Sauce from scratch

This is very simple recipe to make pizza sauce from fresh tomatoes, aroma of the Italian herbs will fill your house. This sauce has a chunky texture and can also be used as pasta sauce. Herbs release their flavor very nicely when cooked by simmering it until the right consistency (easy to spread) hence the sauce should not be watery and runny.


  • 2 Medium sized fresh plum tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. Olive oil
  • 2-3 Cloves of garlic crushed
  • 1 Small yellow onion chopped
  • ½ tsp. Black pepper
  • Italian herbs dried (oregano, basil)
  • Salt to taste


  • To blanch tomatoes, fill a large pot with water and bring to boil, put tomatoes to water and let boil till tomato skin splits open around a minute
  • Transfer tomatoes to cold water it will make easy to peel the skin
  • Now after peeling the skin chop tomatoes to cook
  • Heat oil in a pan and add onions and then garlic and sauté until soft
  • Add Tomatoes and then dried herbs, mix it well
  • Cover the pan and simmer heat about 30 minutes, keep gently stirring occasionally, until thickened
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper

Note: The sauce can be made 4 to 5 days in advance of use and stored tightly covered in the refrigerator, take it out when ready to use.

Banana, Apple and Chocolate chips Loaf Cake "EGGLESS"

Yield- 11-12 Slices

Bake Time- 45 Min
Preparation Time- 20 Min


This eggless loaf cake is a perfect snack to have with tea or coffee, loaded with chocolate chips for chocolate lovers like me, apple chunks and mashed banana gives a distinct flavor and texture that makes this loaf cake so irresistible. The yogurt keeps it light and chocolate chips gives sweetness. Here I am describing step by step recipe with pictures so try this ultimate loaf cake at home!


  • 1 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 Cup unsalted butter at room temp.
  • 1 tsp. Baking powder
  • ½ tsp. Baking soda
  • ½ tsp. Salt
  • ½ tsp. Vanilla essence
  • ½ Cup Whole milk yogurt
  • ½ Cup light brown sugar
  • 1 Ripened banana mashed
  • 1 Cup apple chopped
  • ½ Cup milk chocolate chips (I used Nestle)
  • 2 Pound non-stick loaf pan for baking


  • Preheat the oven at 350⁰F
  • Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder and baking soda (dry ingredients) and keep aside
  • In another bowl take butter and sugar and cream with the help of a spatula or whisk until light and creamy
  • Then add yogurt and vanilla essence and mix well, add mashed banana (mash banana with the help of a fork) again mix well
  • Now gradually add the flour mix to the wet mix and keep mixing until everything is well mixed
  • Then add the apple chunks and chocolate chips, lightly mix but avoid over mixing
  • Lightly grease the loaf pan and pour this mix into the pan, give a few taps to the batter so it settles nicely
  • Now bake in the preheated oven for around 40-45 minutes, check with knife or skewer that it comes out clean, let the cake cool for 5-10 minutes then unmold

Slice it like bread, enjoy the yummy cake!


  •  To keep the cake light in texture do not over mix
  •  Keep the ingredients ready beforehand
  •  Do not cut apple and mash banana too early to avoid oxidization and from turning dark
  • Apple release little water at the time of baking, so try not to make batter consistency very thin

Recipe - Bread Pizza

Bread Pizza

Making pizza at home need a lots of preparation and time but bread pizza is a quick and easy pizza recipe with almost zero effort and you do not need to plan ahead for this.
 So you want to eat pizza and you have white bread in your kitchen and want to please your kids on a Sunday morning, bread pizza is the perfect recipe for you. It has fresh vegetables and cheese which is good for kids and yummy too. You just need pizza sauce or you can use tomato ketchup too and fresh vegetables and mozzarella cheese. Here I am describing recipe step by step with pictures, have fun making bread pizzas!


  • 6 slices of white bread
  • Pizza sauce
  • Sliced onions
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced capsicum
  • Italian herbs (basil, rosemary, oregano)
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Baking tray
  • Olive oil to grease the tray


  • Take bread slices and cut the edges off
  • Put them on greased baking tray
  • Apply the pizza sauce on top of bread slices
  • Top with sliced vegetables
  • Sprinkle cheese on top of it and then sprinkle the Italian herbs
  • Bake at preheated oven at 425 ºF for 10 min until the cheese is melted and bread is golden brown 

Your yummy bread pizza is ready, enjoy!

Note: If you like to have very crispy bread pizza you can toast the bread for few minutes before start making pizzas.
