Recipe-Green Peas Pancakes

Green Peas Pancakes

Green peas look tiny, but are a rich source of nutrition. Though peas are only available in winters, you can easily find these in frozen section of your grocery store throughout the year. Looking at the great value and availability I thought why not cook some snack which can be prepared in minutes, is different, has a good spicy taste (peas are sweet by nature J) which everyone would like. If you are looking for a change, this is a recipe with green peas stuffing and outer crust made of potato and corn floor which plays a roll of binder as well as gives it a different taste and adds crunchiness. I am describing step by step method to prepare Green Peas Pancakes, it will serve as snack for 4 people and cooks in 25 minutes.

Ingredients

For covering

  • 2 Big Potatoes Boiled
  • ½ Cup Corn Flour
  • Salt as required

For Stuffing

  • 2 cup Green Peas
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • Pinch of asafetida (hing)
  • 2 Green chilies (Chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dry mango powder (amchur)
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • Salt as required
  • Oil to fry

Method

  • Take a bowl and mix boiled potatoes, corn flour, add salt to it and mix it well to make soft dough for the covering; keep it aside
  • Meanwhile slightly boil the green peas which will break down the cell walls and make the taste sweeter, once boiled mash a bit
  • Now take a frying pan or kadhai and heat 2 tablespoon oil
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds to it.  When they splutter add a Pinch of asafetida, chopped green chilies, ginger garlic paste and let them fry for few minutes
  • Now add all the spices, after few minutes add slightly boiled and mashed green peas to it and stir for 2-3 minutes. Keep aside to cool
  • Now divide the covering dough in equal portions and make round balls of it
  • Apply a little oil on your palms and take a small dough ball, flatten it and add the stuffing inside
  • Seal it and flatten it to give shape as shown in the picture
  • Do the same for rest of the dough balls
  • Now shallow fry them in a frying pan till golden brown

Your green pea pancakes are ready to be served now. Serve them hot with any sauce or chutney.
I am sure you will love this different recipe.
